Types of Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a chronic, relapsing disorder that affects an individual’s brain and behavior, which leads to significant impairment such as health problems, disability, and a failure to meet major responsibilities at work, school and/or home. There are several types of SUD, as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, fifth addition (DSM-5).
